Simon Clark is hopeful of extending Cameron King's stay at The Walks.

The Linnets boss has confirmed that talks with the attacking midfielder are at an advanced stage as he looks to boost his playing squad further.

Clark, who agreed fresh terms with both Frazer Blake-Tracy and Michael Gash on Wednesday, said: "If we can get Cameron in, it will be a huge boost for the football club.

"We are doing everything we can to get him on board and are getting closer every day.

"Cameron needs a platform to play 35 or 40 games and we can give him that. He knows that the training will be top-drawer and that I can continue to help and develop him as a player."

The Bury St Edmunds-born midfielder - a former Norwich City Academy product - became an instant hit with Linnets' fans following his arrival in January.

He bagged six goals in 13 appearance for the Linnets despite missing much of the tail end of the campaign through injury.

"I love Cameron's energy on the pitch and the way he moves the ball quickly," admitted Clark.

"He's a player who makes good decisions in good areas and five of his six goals last season came against sides in the top ten.

"His record speaks for itself. Against the better teams and defences he stands up, is counted and produces the quality.

"He is a very impressive young lad and has the raw ingredients to be a huge player for this football club if he signs."

King, 22, played in the 2013 FA Youth Cup winning team for the Canaries under Neil Adams.

He left in the summer of 2016, played for Thetford in the Eastern Counties League and had a spell with League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers.
