Lynn's Lambert third in World Under-21 Championship

King's Lynn Stars skipper Robert Lambert has finished on the rostrum in third place in the 2018 FIM World Under-21 Championship.

Lambert’s runners-up spot in Pardubice on Friday secured the bronze medal position for the second time in his career – but on this occasion with 12 more points than he had collected in 2016.

Poland’s Bartosz Smektala won the meeting with a 21-point maximum, and in the process overturned a six-point deficit to defending champion Maksym Drabik to take the title in a dramatic final.

Lambert finished second to Smektala on the night, scoring a bumper haul of 18 points, with Dominik Kubera third and Drabik fourth.

Said Lambert: “I was slightly worried before the meeting, because in my last performance in Pardubice, I didn’t get many points. This time, it was different.

“This season has been incredible for me. After the bronze medal in the SEC I was able to take bronze in the U21 World Championship – it’s just great.”

Lambert will be back to lead the Tru Plant Stars when they look secure a place in the Premiership Grand Final in tonight’s massive Adrian Flux Arena clash with Belle Vue.
