King's Lynn's Lambert prepares for possible Great Britain appearance

In-form King’s Lynn Stars skipper Robert Lambert warmed up with 15 points last week against Somerset, ahead of a probable Great Britain appearance at Tuesday’s Speedway Cup of Nations round two.

The Norwich-born 20-year-old had been called up for the Lions squad to take part in the pairs tournament, which effectively replaces the World Cup this season, along with Craig Cook and Tai Woffinden.

Belle Vue’s National Stadium tonight hosts race two of the event, which began on Saturday and sees various nations as well as GB vying for a place in the two-day final at Wroclaw in Poland on Friday/Saturday.

GB team boss Alun Rossiter said: “Robert Lambert’s form has been very impressive this year, in Sweden, Poland and the UK, and although he is officially the reserve, the way the rules work means you can put your reserve in any race at any time, so Robert won’t be going there to make up the numbers at all.”
