Linnets defender delighted to get off the mark
Defender Frazer Blake-Tracy says that King's Lynn Town players remained convinced that their first win wasn't far away despite their indifferent start to the new season.
The Linnets finally claimed their first points at a perennially unhappy hunting ground thanks to midfielder Michael Clunan's third goal in as many games.
After suffering back-to-back defeats at the start of the campaign, Saturday's win eased the mounting pressure in what was only Lynn's third away success against the Lambs in 38 years.
And Blake-Tracy revealed that the belief between the squad in the changing room has remained intact as the club finally got off the mark.
Blake-Tracy said: "Nothing has changed. The players have been working hard and have stuck to what the Gaffa has said.
"The application of the boys was first class and it feels good to get off the mark. A diamond formation helps us and we feel comfortable playing it.
"We came here to play football but we got a lead and maybe in the end we were desperate to hold onto that.
"Saying that, we've just mentioned in the changing room that Peds (Alex Street) has hardly had a save to make.
"It's so important that we can take confidence from this, but we are not going to go shouting and screaming about it as it is only three points."
Clunan scored the only goal of the game with a rifled shot 15 minutes before the break after a Jordan Richards cross had been touched on by Parker.
Had Lynn had their shooting boots with them, they would have been out of sight in the second half with Ryan Hawkins missing a hat-trick of opportunities and Toby Hilliard, whose overall work rate was first class, missing the target from two yards out.
Linnets boss Simon Clark said: "I'm really pleased for the players, the supporters and also the chairman.
"Today was about our work rate and desire to effect games and we should have won by more.
"I understand that people have supported the football team all of their lives want and expect success.
"We are not going to win 42 games and there are going to be ups and downs but it's about everyone sticking together.
"We always knew it was going to be edgy because of the psychological factor. It gives us a platform to build on and it's a monkey off of our backs."
Clark also paid tribute to Craig Parker, who was taken off after coming on as a substitute at Kettering in midweek, saying: "Parks has been fantastic all week and also today. I went down and met him on Friday lunchtime.
"He showed today that he is clever. He uderstands when to drop in and understands what to do with the ball and he is a very good footballer at this level.
"It was a tough on Tuesday for him but he's totally with the club and totally with the management."
