Plucky Linnets beaten by the Canaries in friendly
King's Lynn Town 1 Norwich City 2
Two goals in as many second half minutes from Norwich City's young guns condemned King's Lynn Town to defeat on Friday evening.
Substitute Toby Hilliard converted a Ryan Hawkins centre to give Lynn the lead shortly after the restart before the Canaries hit back through Devonte Aransibia and Adam Idah to claim the friendly spoils.
The Linnets fielded Harry Limb, Rory McAuley, Kalern Thomas, Jordan Richards, Kieran Higgs, Nathan Stewart and Aaron Jones against their Championship visitors in the first half.
A strong Norwich side, which included summer arrivals Felix Passlack and Teemu Pukki along with Moritz Leitner and Tim Klose, enjoyed plenty of possession but Lynn gave an excellent account of themselves during a goalless first half.
Lynn's stubborn defence pressed the ball at every opportunity and allowed the Canaries little room in-behind.
The hosts had goalkeeper Alex Street to thank for an excellent save down to his left while Dennis Srbeny dragged another effort wide as the half-time whistle approached.
Other than Street, Lynn made ten changes for the start of the second period and Norwich followed suit by making nine of their own 20 minutes after the restart.
By that time, Hilliard had fired home at the far post to give a hard-working Lynn outfit an unexpected lead.
Srbeny struck the woodwork for the Canaries who introduced a raft of youngsters to give them some fresh legs on the pitch.
The changes gave City fresh impetus and they turned the scoreline around in the space of two minutes.
First Phillips sent Aransibia clear to slot home and equalise and then Wildschut showed great awareness in the box to pick out Idah who smashed the ball into the net.
Aransibia went closest in the final exchanges to adding to City's lead when he shot just wide with a powerful effort from the edge of the box but the Canaries held out for the victory.
