King's Lynn golfers one win away from Annodata Matchplay glory




A team of golfers from Lynn are one win away from Annodata Matchplay glory.

Lynn Golf Club’s five-man team defeated Consett and District 3.5-1.5 in their semi-final today at Barcelo Montecastillo Golf Resort – a former host of the Volvo Masters – in Spain.

The team will now meet Romsey, who defeated Leigh 4.5-0.5 in the other last-four clash, in tomorrow's final.

Mason Bernstein recorded a 3&2 victory over Bob Heppelwhite, while Andy Hudson triumphed 5&3 against Ian Rooney and Matthew Bowman defeated Mark Dorritt 2&1.

Captain Mark Butt finished all-square in his game against JP Quinn with Jason Wysoczanski losing 4&3 to Craig Armstrong.

The Lynn team are wearing pink ribbons to remember the life of Grace Robinson, 20, at the showpiece event.

The Annodata Golf Classic is the only national golf Club team event left running in the UK.

Marc Knights, from West Norfolk Electrical Engineering, has provided shirts for the team, Karl Swenson, from Control Components Anglia, has supplied tops, with Claus Neilson, from Qualitops, donating golf balls.
