King’s Lynn Parkrun stalwart celebrated her 500-race milestone
A bumper turnout of more than 400 runners lined up for the latest Lynn Parkrun in The Walks on Saturday morning.
Among the participants was the event's first visually impaired runner Robert Taylor, who was guided around the course by qualified Guide Runner Nik Bryan.
Having visited many other parkruns, they were very complimentary at the end about the Walks and its wide, easy-going paths.
Parkrun regular Dominic Marray-Woods finished in a great time of 18:06 and JW 11-14 Libby Sibthorp, who was once again the first female to finish in a time of 19:53.
This week’s age-graded hero was again Pauline Sparrow, who, recovering from injury, did a great run to finish with an excellent grade of 86:14%.
Congratulations to Sylvia Booth, Julian Samalburo and Pete Waite on their 50th parkrun, Andy Hiles on his 100th, Dan Pratt on his 200th, John Hopgood on his 300th and Beryl Barber on her fantastic 500 parkruns.
Barber is one of King’s Lynn’s original parkrunners and is also a steadfast member of the Lynnsport Ladybirds running group, who all gather round with cakes and snacks at the end of the run to help her celebrate.
Lynn parkrun is a free timed 5 k run (or walk), that takes place in The Walks every Saturday at 9am and is open to all regardless of age or ability.
