King's Lynn Town playmaker chooses his best-ever XI

King’s Lynn Town raised a few eyebrows last summer with the big signing of Sam Kelly.

Kelly who, after starting out at Cambridge United as a youth, played for the academies of both Norwich City and Everton.

He had brief spells with both Port Vale and Grimsby Town in the league before a spell with Hamilton in the Scottish Premier League.

Here, Kelly picks his best XI of players he has played with on the pitch.

Goalkeeper - Jak Alnwick: Played with him at Port Vale for two years and to this day the best goalkeeper I’ve played with. His distribution was brilliant and just as comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Left back - Luke Garbutt: Had a full year with Garbz at reserve level with Everton and his one-on-one defending was solid and reliable. His set pieces alone warrants him in my best team.

Centre back - Shane Duffy: Has gone on to Premier League heights. Dominant in the air and can spray diags for fun. Brilliant technique with an old school mentality for defending.

Centre back - Tias Browning: Now playing in the Chinese Super League. The most naturally gifted athlete I’ve worked with and fastest centre back I’ve witnessed.

Right back - Aaron McGowan: A real defender. Brilliant striker of the ball and has the engine to go with it. Went on to become captain at Hamilton and is age to appearance ratio is unbelievable.

Left midfield - Jerome Thomas: A top professional and was still a massive attacking threat at Port Vale. I learned so much from him, on and off the pitch.

Centre midfield - Anthony Grant: A very hard-working player who knows when to keep it simple and when to be creative.

Centre midfield - Cameron Mcgeehan: The boy gets goals. Hes perfected the late runs into the box for tap ins. Very Lampard-like and very tidy on the ball.

Right midfield - One of the Murphy twins: A coin-flip between the two. Both are so direct and fast with good end product.

False 9 - Jose Baxter: The most intelligent player I have played with and has great vision for a pass. Now playing in the MLS.

Striker - Tyler Walker: Still very young but always had the finishing touch. Any half chance would be converted. Has scored 20-plus goals in the Football League the last few seasons.

Substitutes

Hallam Hope: Bags of pace and works his socks off and has a real eye for goal.

The Murphy twin who landed on the ‘heads’ side of the coin.

Adam Marriott: Just leaks goals.

Siriki Dembele: The most skilful player I’ve played with who is now at Peterborough.

Malik Wilks: Born athlete with unbelievable speed. A very direct player with a trick up his sleeve. Ex-Leeds united and currently at Hull. Still young and has a exciting future.
