Lynn rider Ty faces race against time ahead of play-off

King’s Lynn Stars vice-captain Ty Proctor is facing a race against time to be fit for Monday’s play-off semi-final first leg at Belle Vue.

The Australian failed a fitness test for the Knockout Cup semi-final clash and has missed the last fortnight.

He is still feeling the effects of a crash at the Championship Riders Individual in Sheffield and has been advised to rest a chest injury since that time, but aims to have a run-out for Workington tonight.

He said: “At this stage I’m hoping to ride on Friday for Workington. With my injury on my chest I just don’t want to take any risks. Everyone was saying it’s like a person being in a car accident, and normally people have a month off work.

“I don’t know if I’m being optimistic to come back in two weeks. I’m hoping certainly to be back. I’ve sent all my engines off for servicing.

“Everything is in order, ready to go. Let’s hope everything works on Friday.”

Lynn are already in the KO Cup Final, where they will meet Somerset, after dramatically disposing of the Swindon Robins on Monday in the last heat.

“I was never in any doublt about Heat 15. I believed in Erik (Riss) and obviously Robert (Lambert),” added the 31-year-old Victoria-born rider.

“I knew Erik would come good.”
