King's Lynn Sunday League in danger of folding
The bells are almost tolling on the King’s Lynn Sunday League - unless new teams can be found for next season.
Only four sides have confirmed their place in the league for 2018/19, ahead of the AGM, at Lynnsport, on Tuesday night.
Although a few more teams are expected to join on the night, the reality of the league not existing is now very real.
If only ten teams register in total, the committee will have a decision to make on whether the league would actually be viable to run.
The league has been a mainstay of local football since 1963, recently celebrating its 50th anniversary season.
In its heyday it was at full capacity of 60 teams, split over five divisions.
The league's cup finals this season were a roaring success with more than 100 people through the doors at Wisbech Town for the League Cup final while more than 300 people attended the remaining finals at The Walks.
Secretary Rob Bunting said: "The support is there, it’s just the players and teams are not, it seems.
"If you search YouTube for “King’s Lynn Sunday League” you will see all three of our cup finals online.
"We can discuss the reasons why all not, but now is rock bottom and we need new teams in or the league is in grave danger of disappearing, potentially forever.
"The fat lady is warming up her larynx."
If you are interested in entering a team, no matter the skill level as ALL teams are welcome and accommodated, please get in touch with league secretary Bunting at: kingslynnsundayleague@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Now is the time to stand up and be counted, or West Norfolk risks losing its beloved Sunday league forever.
