Narborough's last-wicket pair hold their nerve




Steve Ridout cracked 89 for Felthorpe but Narborough kept them winless in Level One of the Norfolk Cricket League.

Chasing 190 for victory, Narborough were indebted to solid knocks from Jack Crisp (35), Jonathan Coe (44) and Jack George (36) for seeing them home by just one wicket.

But that didn’t tell the whole story with Narborough’s last-wicket pair of Peter Green and David Cornwall holding their nerve right at the death by adding some valuable runs.

The other game in the table saw Southwold win at Castle Rising, despite a fine 89 from Rob Wilson for the hosts.

In Division Two West, Castle Acre defeated Great Melton 3rds.

Elliot Whiting, Jimmy Thompson and Robbie Thompson shared the bulk of the wickets, before Castle Acre openers Sam Molyneux (48) and Steven Piper (39) laid the foundations for their side’s victory.

Gooderstone won at East Harling, thanks to Glenn Fossey’s 71 after Rob Dyke had earlier cracked 54 for the home team.

Snettisham A and Heacham head up Three and Four West respectively.

Snettisham’s Gary Raines and David Harrison both picked up three scalps in their victory over Rocklands.

Heacham’s Matthew Blake hit 79 as his side’s victory target proved too tough for Bircham where Anthony Sadler returned the impressive figures of 3 for 14 from his seven overs.

Narborough are the new holders of the Tom Bartram T20 Trophy, after chasing down 127 to comfortably beat Saxlingham by seven wickets in the final.

Matthew Coe took the Man-of-the-Match award by leading the run chase with 47.

In their semi-final, Narborough bowled out Martham for 102, knocking off the runs for the loss of just two wickets.
