Opening day humiliation for King's Lynn Town
King's Lynn Town 2 Biggleswade Town 4
King's Lynn Town began life in the newly-formed Southern Central Premier Division with defeat against Biggleswade Town at The Walks.
Simon Clark's managerial reign got off to the worst possible start as his side conceded three times in the final 25 minutes after fighting back to take the lead early in the second half.
The Linnets failed to make the most of their chances in the first half, but in truth they struggled to cope with Biggleswade's high press and direct approach.
Biggleswade took the lead after ten minutes after the speedy Liam Brooks put the ball into the box for the dangerous Jonny McNamara to beat Alex Street.
Four minutes after the restart Toby Hilliard, who missed a glorious chance to score from eight yards out just a couple of minutes earlier, was pulled down by Lucas Perry in the penalty are and Michael Clunan scored from the spot.
Once they'd levelled, it took the Linnets just six minutes to get their noses in front when Ryan Fryatt powered home a header from a Clunan corner.
Lynn's Kalern Thomas saw his stinging effort brilliantly saved by Sam Donkin as the hosts briefly threatened to run riot.
It should have been plain-sailing for the hosts, but Biggleswade had other ideas to equalise shortly after.
Lynn relinquished possession down the right and Brooks once again was the provider with a cross that Pierre Joseph-Dubois glanced past Street.
Six minutes from time, Brooks was allowed far too much time and space inside the area and fired Matthew Ball's centre across Street and into the bottom corner.
Worse followed in time added on, when Street's attempted clearance from a pass back ended in a complete mis-hit gifting Waders substitute Connor Vincent with the easiest of goals.
It was a bitterly disappointing end to the start of a new era which doesn't get any easier with trips to both Kettering Town and Tamworth in the next week.
