Key King's Lynn midfielder could return for Leamington trip in National League North

Tommy Widdrington says the return of key midfielder Cameron Hargreaves will provide him with a ‘good’ headache ahead of tomorrow’s National League North trip to Leamington.

Hargreaves hasn’t started a game for Lynn since the 2-0 defeat at Farsley Celtic back in mid-December – but could feature in some capacity against the Brakes as the Linnets endeavour to play their first fixture for a fortnight.

Widdrington has expressed his delight at Hargreaves’ imminent return to the squad, saying: “It’s a great problem, a good headache to have.

“He’s somebody whose sure output, determination and willingness to work hard for the team is an attribute lots of managers would love and give their right arm for.

“We’ve done really well without him and we’ve also missed Skip (Michael Clunan) for the game at Blyth Spartans and have also been without Theo (Widdrington) for some games too.

“We’ve coped really well in that respect through a difficult time.”

Leamington are the division’s draw experts, having drawn 14 of their 25 league games and their current record showing that, although they are unbeaten in four outings, they are also without a win in eleven.

Their last victory was a 2-1 win over AFC Fylde back in October.

The Brakes have boosted their attacking options by signing Yeovil Town striker Ollie Hulbert on a loan deal until the end of the season

But all that concerns the Lynn boss is the form of his own side as they start playing catch-up with their league programme.

“We are where we are on merit and we’ll be reiterating that to the players,” admitted Widdrington.

“We’ll be telling them that we need them to emulate our first 23 games. If they can better that then great, even if it means another player or two coming in.

“It doesn’t matter to me about the name on the back of the shirt, it’s about what they do for the badge on the front of it.”

The Linnets have rearranged two of their recently postponed fixtures.

They will now host AFC Telford United on Tuesday, February 14, and will travel to Brackley Town on Tuesday, March 14.
