West Norfolk youngsters benefit from racket-pack
Runcton Holme Primary School have benefitted from receiving the new Badminton England primary racket-pack through KES academy and the West Norfolk Community Badminton Network.
Miss Thorne, who is a higher level teaching assistant (HLTA), attended the initial workshop and is a keen player herself.
Janis Baker, a coach, was then asked to set up an after-school junior badminton club, which has been a great success.
The club has been running from last October, and the children have learnt how to serve, successfully complete a variety of different shots and how to score a game.
For the last eight weeks, Baker has been running an end-of term tournament for the 13 children.
It was played in two groups with the top player from each group meeting in the final.
Narrowly missing out on the final were group runners up Chloe Partridge and Albie Prosser.
The final was between Carl Couzins and Conor Brant.
The final game was very close and
either boy could have won, it was neck-and-neck all the way, but Couzins fought hard to take the title 15-13.
The afte- school club will start again in September.
