Ryston Runners clean up in W45 category




Fifteen Ryston Runners members went home from Shouldham Warren with category awards after the second event in the 2018-19 Cross Country Grand Prix Series.

For the seniors/masters this was their first outing of the season over the 9km course.

The host club cleaned up in the W45 category, with a one-two-three for Nicky Roger, Lesley Robins, and Jacky Walsingham.

Linda Marshall won the W50s, with Karen Smith third.

Nic Bensley continues to dominate the M45 age group, his last year in this category.

Tony Savage was second M55, and Jane Ashby, making a rare off-road appearance, took the same place in the W60 age group, despite being a good 10 years older.

Stewart Robins (M50), Penny Seeger (SW), and Anna Smith (W35) all took third places in their respective categories.

Rosie Booth was the only winner in Ryston colours in the junior races, taking the honours in the under-17 girls’ race, with clubmate Mae Loram second.

There was also a second place for Campbell Pick in the under-15 boys, and a third for Evie Goldring in the under-13 girls.

U11G: 7 Ella Goldring; 15 Hette Koulman; 16 Clarice Cavell.

U13B: 12 Oakley Took.

U17B: 4 Bailey Took.

U17G: 8 Nina Koulman.

SM: 5 Ben Keeley; 7 Robert Simmonds; 10 Andrew Simmonds; 20 Jake Whitehouse; 21 Kevin Took.

W35: 4 Anna Seaman.

M40: 4 Steve Brewer.

M45: 12 Shaun Mann.

W45: 8 Judith Berry.

M50: 10 Martin Ive; 13 Mark Crook.

W50: 5 Sue Smith.

M60: 4 Kevin Howlett; 10 Pete Johnson.

W60: 4 Liz Blakie; 5 Gill Hart.

As ever, the club is grateful to those members who helped to set up and dismantle the courses and the tent village, which is so vital to the administration and smooth running of this long- running event.
