Cath shows her class in Spain

Ryston Runners stalwart Cath Duhig took part in the 31st Espada Toledana racewalking event in Toledo, central Spain.

Due to road works on the course, this year’s staging of this prestigious fixture in the Spanish athletics calendar had been moved onto the track.

Cath Duhig, who participated in the 31st Espada Toledana racewalking event, shows off her gold and bronze medals from a recent competition.

Seeded in the Absoluta Femenina race, Duhig found herself having to cover the whole 5000m distance in lane five, which made lap and split times hard to gauge, although she finished in 31.07.

She recorded the fastest time by an over 60 walker on the day.

An unexpected gift of a miniature Toledo sword paperknife from the president of the Toledo Athletics Federation helped make her experience even more special.
