Ryston's Eamonn makes his mark at Hadleigh 10-mile race

Ryston’s Eamonn McCusker made his annual appearance at the Hadleigh 10-Mile race in Essex, where he was, at last, able to fulfil his ambition of winning his relatively new M65 category.

As he has done this race at least a dozen times, McCusker is familiar with the ups (mainly first half) and downs (mainly second half) of the course.

McCusker believed this helped him to achieve his goal, completing the race in 1.17.24.

This established a new club best time for the distance, bettering the old mark by ten minutes.

It was also the amount by which he also improved the age group best for the Half Marathon distance in the Great East Run at Peterborough a couple of months ago.

n Multiple laps of the Snetterton motor racing circuit awaited competitors in the full and half marathons there on Sunday. Of the 65, tackling six of them, Sarah Partridge was 45th in 4.34.19, while Keith Morris was just one place behind her 4.38.51.

Oliver Foxwell was the only Ryston competitor in the three-lap event, finishing 77th out of 566 in 1.36.37.
