West Norfolk adds 3k race to schedule at the Keith Ward Indoor Meeting in honour of club stalwart

The inaugural 3km race was added to the schedule at the Keith Ward Indoor Meeting in honour of David Hardingham.

Hardingham was an avid athlete, committee member, timekeeper, field official and friend to many who sadly passed away last year.

The men’s race was won overall by senior Ryston Runners athlete Nathan Stockdale in 9m.09.5sec.

The West Norfolk finishers were Ethan Ward, fourth overall and the first under-17 home in 9m.47.6sec.

Alfie Bone was seventh overall and the second under-20 home in 10m.40.3sec, while Hanley Angell was eighth overall and the third under-20 home in 11m.02sec.

Greg Davies finished 12th overall and the first 60+ Masters athlete home in 12m10.5sec.

Mark Garrett was 13th and was the first 50+ Masters in 12m33.7sec

Ricky Bailey came home 15th and was first in 55+ Masters category in 13m42.0sec.

The women’s race was won by Ryston Runners ’ under-20s athlete Isabella McKensie in 11m.02.3sec.

The West Norfolk AC finishers were led by Hannah Greenhalgh, who finished third overall and was the first senior woman home in 11m.44.3sec

Evie Clayton finished fourth overall and was the first under-17 home in 12m.00.4sec.

Katrina Wasteney was sixth overall and was the first +50 masters woman home in 13m.05.8sec.

Nicola Neill was eighth overall and the second 50+ masters woman home in 13m41.5sec.

Some of David’s close family and friends attended the race and awarded the trophy to the winners.

Thanks go out to all the club volunteers and friends who turned up and pulled together to make this day run as smoothly as possible and to Athletics Norfolk, officials, parents, and the athletes.

The logistics around this event are huge and rely on those volunteers to pull it together.

It’s also down to some experienced organisers behind the scenes, such as the club's own Paul Bailey, who is the glue that sticks the pieces together.
