Sampson sets out to go one place better
West Norfolk driver Lee Sampson will be hoping to go one better than his last two-litre stock car outings on home soil when racing returns to the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday.
In what will be the first meeting for three weeks, Sampson will want to better the runners-up spot achieved in both previous races where he was unlucky not to take the chequered flag in the main events.
But his performance sends out an ominous warning to his rivals despite the move to star grade which will see him start further back on the grid.
Fellow two-litre West Norfolk drivers will also be looking to prove their mettle around the undulating Saddlebow oval with Saturday being the penultimate outing for the formula ahead of the world final on August 18.
Hunstanton’s Willie Skoyles, competing in his third successive meeting at Lynn, has claimed stunning successes at the previous two meetings and will be out to make it a hat-trick.
For the first time ever, the Lynn circuit will host an unlimited banger meeting with a difference with it being open to just Volvo cars which qualify for the class.
Drivers from all over Europe will be involved with a splattering of Hearses and Limos amongst the cars in action.
With one of the Dutch drivers even bringing an ambulance, expect there to be some fantastic-looking wrecks with these cars.
Lynn’s Ashley Bell is an exponent of racing Volvos and will be out to deliver great performance on what is likely to be a more even playing field than what he normally competes in.
Bell races with his original engine and with two of the races reserved for drivers who have not had engine transplants he will be out with very similar machinery to his own.
Also taking to the track will be current leader of the entertainer league Kieran Bowman, fellow Predator Robert Betts, veteran performer Davey Cox, Sam Coote and Darren Fendley, who will be a big danger from the back of the grid.
The junior bangers complete a triple bill of action.
