Simon says 'yes' to King's Lynn Stars cover

The King's Lynn Stars have signed Simon Lambert on a 28-day contract to cover for injured reserve Kasper Andersen.

With the Tru Plant Stars having four home meetings in that period, three of which come within the space of a week, club bosses were keen to sign a rider with plenty of experience around the Adrian Flux Arena.

And with Lambert already having had seven different spells in King’s Lynn colours since 2004, the 29-year-old certainly fits that bill.

‘Lambo’ has started to see an upturn in form with Championship side Peterborough and is looking to build on that during his latest stint with the Stars in the top flight.

Meanwhile, the club continue to work hard behind the scenes as they search for a permanent replacement for Lewis Kerr.

The fans’ favourite has been ruled out for the remainder of the season and club bosses are assessing all eligible options available on an average of 5.79 or below.

The Stars travel to Leicester on Monday (July 16) before returning to home action seven days later (July 23) when Poole are the visitors.

Meanwhile, the club's bionic man Lewis Kerr has sent a message to King’s Lynn bosses: “Count me in next season."

Kerr is a firm favourite with Tru Plant Stars fans but his season has ended early after a horror crash last week which results in a badly broken leg.

Thankfully the early stages of recovery are encouraging and he’s already casting an eye towards 2019.

Speaking from hospital, Kerr said: “I’d love to be back at King’s Lynn, count me in. I’d had my best year until last week and hope I can stay, they’ve been great to race for, management and fans.

“I can train so much harder than I did last winter and I will need to having not raced for a while. I need to come back stronger and I will.

"The target is obviously March 1 but I want to have been back on a bike for a bit before then at least.

“It was obviously a bad break but the bone had gone back really clean and neatly. I’ve just got to be careful I don’t knock it or do anything stupid.

“However, this hasn’t put me off the sport. I’ll be back and stronger.”
