Sporting Terrington youngsters are honoured

Under-8 footballers from Terrington Tigers have achieved an FA first after being honoured with a sportsmanship award at the Mid Norfolk Youth League ceremony.

The accolade, which was for an accumulation of points for sportsmanship given by the opponents of competing teams over the course of the season, saw the Tigers receive the highest points for their age group.

Tigers coach and chairman Andrew McDermid said: “We are so incredibly proud of all of our teams, but for these seven and eight-year-olds to behave and play so maturely, they are an inspiration and deserve this recognition. It’s not always about winning."

The team, who picked up their award at Lynn's Alive Corn Exchange on Tuesday, consists of: George Buttriss, Will Brammar, Sophie Codrington, Harry Thornally, Ruby Lee, Harriet Chisam, Riley Broughton, Matthew Bridges and Oliver Foreman, along with coaches Andrew McDermid and Darren Broughton.

Terrington Tigers are a Chartered Standard development club and players are still needed for the various teams.
