Linnets handed tough start following fixture release
King's Lynn Town have been handed a tough start to their Southern League Premier Division Central campaign.
The Linnets will open their season at home to Biggleswade Town on Saturday, August 11, before trips to both Kettering Town and Tamworth - two sides expected to be challenging for honours next season - in the first week.
Lowestoft, who Lynn will entertain at The Walks on Boxing Day, will host the Linnets on August Bank Holiday Monday before a crunch home clash against Stourbridge.
Lynn will welcome Kettering Town over the festive period (December 29) before travelling to Needham Market on New Year's Day.
Easter Monday sees Lynn host Needham Market ahead of a trip to Stourbridge on the final day of the season.
Reflecting on the fixture release, manager Simon Clark said: "They are all big games but we will be fit and ready to go.
"People say that you need four, five or six games to get going once the season starts but I don't necessarily believe that.
"It makes our pre-season even more important than what it already is as we want to make a bright start in the league.
"We will need to be prepared as the fixtures don't give us any room for not being ready. One thing we don't want to do is drop any early points against some of our rivals.
"The one thing I will say is that there will be grass on the pitch at Burton Latimer (Kettering's home ground) which will allow us to get the ball down and play."
