Ladies end momentous season in style
West Norfolk ladies’ rugby team ended a momentous season on a massive high with an emphatic win at a ladies’ 10s tournament.
The title remained at Gatehouse Lane after West Norfolk showed great spirit and determination in every game they played.
West Norfolk defeated Medway, High Wycombe, Sleaford and Amber Valley to set up a popular and highly-anticipated match against Royston to decide a possible three-way tie.
Royston and West Norfolk have supported each other since they both started to play the game and the meeting was a repeat of the opening game of the campaign.
West Norfolk were promoted from the Women’s National Championship Midlands League Two this season.
Captain Sarah Hodge was named coaches’ player of the year with Mary Hegarty being awarded Players’ Player of the year.
Former player Georgie Lingham took to the field for Saracens’ first and second teams where she was named as coaches’ player of the year, as well as helping the Eastern Counties side reach the final of the Gill Burns Women’s County Competition.
West Norfolk's girls' team finished their season by competing in a highly-competitive 7s tournament.
