West Norfolk students conquer the world
Three dedicated students from Wisbech and Lynn Martial Arts Club have conquered the world.
Oscar Gray, Nakita Davies and Lily Davies all returned home with gold medals after flying out to North Carolina, in the USA, to represent Great Britain at the 2018 World Championships.
The event was hosted by the World Tang Soo Do Association and the trio had to first qualify at national and European Championships before being selected to represent the GB squad.
More than 1700 competitors took part in the World Championship, which were so large that they were judged over two days.
The whole Great Britain team of 45 students returned home with an amazing 96 medals.
Oscar and Nikita competed in three areas – weapons, hyungs (set pattern of moves) and sparring. Oscar won gold in weapons and hyungs while Nakita won gold in hyungs.
Lily, 5, was part of the Tiny Tiger category which is a fun introduction to martial arts competitions.
Instructor Donna Harvey said: "I’m so proud of Lily for demonstrating her techniques in front of more than 1700 people.
"What a huge achievement fora five-year-old and she loves her shiny gold medal too."
Wisbech and Lynn Martial Arts Club train on a Monday in Lynn and on a Thursday in Wisbech.
