A different look at the coast . . .
Designs On The Coast, a textiles and photography exhibition at Thornham Village Hall from today until Sunday, has been inspired by a selection of extraordinary multiple exposure images.
The exhibition at the hall, in High Street (PE36 6LX) is open from 10am-4pm each day and entry is free.
It brings together the work of Dr David Townshend ARPS and nearly 40 textile artists from around the UK.
From photographs, sketch books and textile samples, through to finished art works, this is Thornham
harbour as you’ve never seen it before!
David creates unique images of the landscapes that attract him.
Under his lens, often familiar scenes take on the appearance of pattern or abstract art.
A successful garden, landscape and nature freelance photographer based in Northamptonshire, he now specialises in interpreting landscapes.
Curator Melanie Venes is a hand weaver living and working in Thornham.
Recently retired after 25 years teaching at the Handweaver’s Studio in London and numerous interesting commissions for film and TV, she is now concentrating on developing artistic collaboration amongst textile disciplines and promoting the work of young artisans.
