Hunstanton Christmas light switch-on event returns to town centre, with family activities, rides and market also planned




With a seaside Christmas light switch-on event just around the corner, here is everything you need to know if you plan on going along.

Hunstanton Town Council has announced the event will be taking place on Sunday, December 1 with family activities, rides, music and markets in the town all day.

Visit the free-to-enter Christmas food and gift fair inside the town hall from 10am-5pm with the Ukrainian community running the café raising much-needed funds for their homeland.

Youngsters will get the opportunity to have a photo on Santa’s sleigh, visit the Rainbows’ tiger face painting corner, and say hello to the miniature donkeys from Great Massingham Donkey Sanctuary – raising crucial funds to care for the animals.

Visitors will also be able to guess the name of the teddy which will gather money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH), this year's mayor charity, all in the town hall car park from 11am-5pm.

West Norfolk Food and Drink Festival will be holding its last market of the year in the High Street from 10am-6pm.

Rainbow Park Fairground Rides will be outside the Princess Theatre from 12noon-5pm to keep children entertained.

There will be music on stage at the front of the town hall 12noon–5pm hosted by KL1 Radio, showcasing local bands, choirs and schools.

Hunstanton Concert Band will be getting audiences into the festive spirit by playing at the Northgate Shopping precinct starting at 3pm-5pm, with stilt walkers, buskers and Morris dancers moving around the town to ensure everyone is entertained.

There will be a VIP meet and greet with Father Christmas at the Princess Theatre, while people can also walk through Snow White’s wonderland, which is open from 1.30pm-4.30pm.

Outside Henry’s from 2pm-5pm will be a VW light display.

Food vendors and gift stalls will line the street outside the town hall and down towards The Green to cover all your Christmas wishes.

The council also hopes to be supported by Hunstanton’s firefighters and police officers giving visitors the opportunity to come along and say hello and maybe climb aboard for a photo with some of our local heroes.

The light switch-on is set to take place at 5pm with Your Choir, Hunstanton Primary School and special guest Snow White from this year's pantomime at The Princess Theatre.
