Grease is the word for King’s Lynn am-drammers
A workshop and auditions next week for Grease the musical will be taking place and those who want to be in the cast are encouraged to go go go.
The King's Lynn Operatic and Dramatic Society (KLODS) are holding a workshop on Wednesday, September 20 at 7.30pm in the KLODS hut, at the Guildhall, 6-8 St George's Courtyard, Lynn.
Auditions will then be held on Thursday, September 23 also in the KLODS hut.
After nearly two years of negotiating, and a move due to Covid-19, the KLODS delayed production starts in earnest with the production to be performed January 26 -29, 2022 at the Guildhall.
The production was meant to be marking the society's 120th Birthday, but will now kick off a year of performance celebration for KLODS 121st year.
With a new refit of the building, known fondly as the KLODS hut the society are looking forward to putting the new facilities to its intended use again.
Grease the musical will be directed by KLODS resident director and vice-chair, Hayley Dennis.
Ms Dennis said: “This fast moving show will need a cast who are good singers and have the ability to dance well, as many of the staged numbers will be more than a little energetic.
"That is why KLODS are holding a workshop before the auditions. All parts are on the KLODS Facebook page and can be downloaded. Both even events will be held at the KLODS Hut in St Georges Court Yard at 7.30pm.”
David Nash, chair of KLODS said:“Much has changed during lock down with theatrical licences and with the Guildhall now being a venue of demand, the start of the rehearsals to the opening night is about three months.
"Therefore KLODS are looking for a dedicated and talented cast to make his family classic show take King’s Lynn by storm, well, Greased Lightning to be more precise.
"Starting off with an eight-year Broadway run, Grease is among the world’s most popular musicals and has a cult-like following, especially among teens. KLODS were most honoured to be allowed to keep the licence when we had to move the show into 2022.
"Tickets for the show are already selling well, these being available from the King’s Lynn Corn Exchange box office.”
