Norfolk Open Studios event, which would have celebrated three decades, is not going ahead due to lack of support

A popular open studio event, set to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, will not be going ahead this summer due to a lack of support.

Organisers of Norfolk Open Studios said the sad decision follows fewer applications from artists, creators and makers wanting to take part making the event “unfeasible”.

Daniel Randall-Dawson, producer of the award-winning scheme, said: “We are saddened that this year’s event will not be going ahead.

“Norfolk Open Studios is a paid subscription scheme and unfortunately, we did not receive enough artist applications to be able to deliver it this year.

“We have been celebrating our county’s artists for three decades and we hope that artists who were planning on taking part can continue to open their studios and run events to share their work with visitors throughout the county.”

Over the course of three decades, Norfolk Open Studios has shone a spotlight of thousands of the county’s artists at all stages of their careers – from school and college students through to emerging talent and established and professional artists.

Artists and creators have opened their studio doors to the public to showcase their skills and this year’s event was due to move to a summer date in July.
