Sutton Bridge Players to put on ‘bigger and bolder’ production of Jack and the Beanstalk with ‘daring adventures’ and ‘mystical weather’
An amateur theatre group has announced its latest production which promises to be bigger and bolder.
Sutton Bridge Players has announced its third annual pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk penned by Heckington-based scriptwriter Kei Bailey.
Following the roaring successes of previous pantomimes, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ and the latest award-winning performance of the one-act play ‘Rambles on the Radio’, the group is back with a tale that promises to be bigger, bolder, and ‘beanier’ than ever before.
Audiences can expect:
- daring adventures: Will Jack climb the giant’s beanstalk to new heights, or will he get tangled in the vines of fate?
- mystical weather: Will there be fair weather to aid our hero, or will rain dampen his spirits? Tune in for breaking news.
- Giant’s stew pot: Rumour has it the Giant is experimenting with new recipes. Will Jack end up as the main course, or will he save the day and bring home more than just beans?
A night of laughter, magic, and mayhem awaits as Sutton Bridge Players bring this classic tale to life with a whimsical twist.
Expect the unexpected, cheer for the hero, boo the villain, and most importantly, have a jolly good time.
Ren Shilcock, chair of Sutton Bridge Players, said: “After a record-breaking summer for us at Hunstanton, winning three awards at the One Act Drama Festival, I am thrilled to be able to bring another show to Sutton Bridge.
“It is a pleasure to welcome back Rachelle Carnell as director, whose dedication brought us our first pantomime, Cinderella, in 2023.
“Assisting her is Charlotte, who excelled as ‘Dorothy’ last year in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and now steps in as our assistant director, choreographer, and ‘Jill’ on stage.
“We are ever thankful to our backstage crew and our talented cast. We are proud to be a multi-award-winning amateur theatre group that is able to bring performances to the local area.”
The panto will be taking place at Westmere School in Sutton Bridge on February 20, 21 and 22 at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £7.50 per adult and children 11 years old and under can attend for free.
